How are Adrian, Jon, and Deron going to be held accountable for their actions? An apology in the form of a letter to the tribal members that goes something like this:
Tribal Members,
Today, we announce our resignation. We have tried to the best of our ability to make sound decisions for the Tribe without the input of the tribal members. We apologize for conducting tribal affairs with an air of elitism. We feel our presence on the tribal council could hinder the progress of the Tribe as it is on the mend. We are attempting to disentangle ourselves from being held accountable for blowing through the Tribe’s money and the tribal members' plight.(denied their rightful money and driven into poverty).

Ethiopia, Congo, Haiti, Darfur <----These places are poverty stricken, not the Meskwaki Settlement. Free health care? Check! Free water? Check! Rent Free? Check! Free trash pick up? Check! Free Education? Check! Obesity problem? Check! If we were headed into "POVERTY" wouldn't we all be skinny??? (scratching the top of my head with a confused look on my face) As for the Meskwaki living away from the settlement, they are obviously making it, so why can't we?? Answer me that and I will sit here and cry around with you!!

ReplyDeletethe fact that deron ward got back on council is a strategy move...next election with the right person nominated, he will be easy to remove..the fact that galene ran against him is the reason he won...i have nothing against galene, i like her, but the fact remains that galvin was on a council that refused to honor the constitution and he was one of the main ones who fought the tribe on this....if galene wasnt his wife, she could have won. but alas as you see, she was held back by old garbage. Remember the tribe is not stupid and have long memories on how people acted when they were in council...i guess deron ward was the lesser of two evils even thu we all know he just sits there and does not contribute anything except a yes when needed,politics sometimes turns strange,but remember the next election is derons to lose,just put up a good canidate and we will vote for that person,sorry bout this time
ReplyDeleteI've decided not to cry for people who are too damn lazy to work. I'll cry for the single parents who get food stamps to feed their kids, also for the elders and the people on disability. But not for these shameless bastards who get food stamps and ask people to buy them booze in exchange for food. They deserve to sit in their dark free houses!!! Surely you don't mean these folks?? If you do, shame on you!! Then I'll cry for you too!!

-Will always be associated with the chief-appointed council.
- “Borrowed” millions of the Tribe's money to ensure elections turned out favorably broke several laws while doing so.
-Helped shutdown the casino for 7 months (an estimated $300 million dollar loss)
-Total disregard for the Tribe's constitution & introduced those awful tribal codes
-Agreed to put the Tribe’s land up as collateral for the $180 million loan for casino’s expansion.
-Put the tribal members in an uncomfortable position to choose between land(home) or money(percap) All this is less evil? Laughable!
I would like to point out that plenty of old school tribal councils have tabled or rejected petitions to oust whole tribal councils. Really. I've seen the papers.And earlier this year two petitions to recall Frank and Keith were deemed invalid. How is this any different from what happened in 2003? *Double standard*

ReplyDeleteAdvice sought: What do you think I should do? I'm having trouble with one of the newly elected council's kid. (He/she is an adult.) But since his/her father got onto council I've noticed he/she thinks they can say whatever they want to people now. Kind of like a "don't mess with me cause my dad is on the council" attitude. Should I say something to this person? Or to the councilman? Or to the whole council?

My thoughts are that this should be brought up in a council meeting because this has happened before and will continue unless brought out in the open. It needs too be said and printed in the newsletter that this should not be tolerated.
ReplyDeleteFrustration is what carries this tribe forward everyday! Get used to it. This type of behavior has gone on forever and will regardless of what is said. Why would anyone feel special because their parent is on the council is beyond me. Whoopty-fucking-doo.

ReplyDeleteThis current council has a lot of things to un do from the other council. Will they have the guts too full fill some of the things that had been started and not finished?? Such as the removal of Ironshell. The de-enrollment of Tara Marvin?? The removal of Renetta Plander from her position at the casino??and so on and so?? These people have gotten away with things that other tribal members would not have. The council will need to bring back the enrollment back to the father being the one too sign instead of what is going on now!! Will they have the guts too get these things done?? I don't think so....
