Favorite quotes from the tribal chairman

1. "Money, money, money."
2. "You're living way beyond your means."
3. "Go back to school, the tribe will pay for it."
4. "Get a job."
5. We're losing what is means to be a Meskwaki."
6. "We can have a community garden." We're cutting the percap and you will starve! followed by an evil cackle. I swear I could see green money signs in his eyes.

Get off my back and stop telling me how to live my life...

  1. tribal chairman? this guy doesn't know anything or he's clueless how the economy works. Or maybe he's just someone's puppet.
Too bad. He should just resign and make room for someone who will at least stand-up for all tribal members.

  2. Meskwaki Higher Ed informed me, that the funding for education would be decreasing due to the increase of people seeking higher education.

Maybe instead of building a high school, they could have increased the funding for education. The tribe needs more educated people to properly conduct tribal operations in a matter in which all tribal members agree upon. The more people that possess an education, the larger the pool of people we can choose to lead us. Education is not the only attribute a leader needs, but it is important.

  4. I like many other fellow Meskwaki didn't raise our voice when told they would cut our per caps if it would help the tribe get through this rough patch. We figured that at the end of the rough time they would re-instate what was dropped but when the time came they just took more away. Then that circus acted when down where they showed some man showing all types of colored pictures and wasn't taking any questions or slowing down for no one.

Then to top it all off these string of quotes were mentioned. And each one felt like a slap in the face. To have remained silent for so long; for things to escalated to where nobody in charge knows what the hell is going on.

I felt a sigh of relief when I heard of such a blog going on where I could see/hear what my fellow tribal members feel and wanted to say. Its a chance to get organized with unconventional means. There is a lot of information I wasn't aware of and I thank you Rabbit.

  5. You all just want to hear what you want to hear and you want handed to you what you want handed to you. No sacrifice, no long term goals - only what you want when you want it. Would you rather have a council that patted you on the heads and told you you could have whatever you wanted - even though the money wasn't there to give it to you? You are so single minded and self serving.
