Too much to aspire for?

The reality is we need to money to survive nowadays. Is it wrong to want the Meskwaki people to be taken care of and have a good life? Yes, this can be accomplished with education and jobs, but who are the tribal council to tell people what to do with their lives? The casino's profits can provide well for the people as it has been until the tribal council unnecessarily cut the percap. I don't care if people sit on their arse all day just as long as they're OK while they're doing it. OK as in money for food, bills paid, civil rights intact, a home.

  1. Money pays for food, electrical bills, LP, and clothing. These are the essentials to everyday living. While the tribal council priorities are to spend it on tribal courts, attorney general, million dollar attorney, and other projects that should have gone through a referendum vote. The tribal council doesn't understand that they are looking after OUR interests not theirs.

  2. I think the tribal council understands more than you do. If they were not doing the things they are doing today, there would not be a financially secure future for the tribe. All you people can see is what you are NOT getting - and that is a free ride. Have you ever stopped to add up how much money in per cap you all have gotten from the first check until this past one? Where did it all go? How much of it did you really appreciate? The tribal council looking after our futures means making sure there is a future to look out for. The casino may not always be there. We need to diversify our holdings so that we are not totally dependant on the casino. And that takes money. If the people were allowed to vote on every little nit picking thing, there would be no future because all alot of you think about is yourselves. I work at the casino and I see how our tribal members handle the jobs they are given. They don't show up, don't take orders, and then when they loose these jobs - they want to blame the council or the general manager or the white man for their laziness. Yes, we all need money to live on - to pay the bills. What is wrong with doing as others do and get a J-O-B - and then working it like you have a little bit of pride in yourselves. So many of you have become fat and lazy on per cap and the only thing that got you up off your fat butts was loosing your free money. Maybe you should also loose your free water (one more bill to pay) or your free medical care (another bill to pay or no services) or maybe you should see your garbage pile up around your homes because there is no longer any free garbage pick up. So many of you don't even appreciate the things you are already getting for free - but it would all be better if only you got your $2000 back every month. Ha ha, what jokes you are. What sort of children are you raising - lazy like you or children that know how to put in an honest days work for the money they get? Per cap was ruining our families - namely our children who what nothing more than to have all the new cars they can wreck, video games to play on their big flat screen televisions, and couldn't do a decent days work if their lives depended on it. Thanks for helping our children with their futures!!!
