Come out, Come out

I had a little chat with the people who plan on running for the tribal council. I tried to convince them to come out and start talking to the community straight away. Let people know where they stand on issues and ask the tribal members what changes they want to see on the settlement. Apparently, they want to wait until the nominations…??? "It’s up to the people who they want on the tribal council." I tried to tell them that the tribal members would like someone to follow and support more than ever because of what’s going on here. I hope they reconsider and start putting up signs, handing out flyers and come out to talk to us.

  1. Rabbit, I know you are justarabbit, but you can do more. Since you are able to make contact with some of the known candidates, you may ask them for a small question and answer session. Your questions can go beyond the generic. Instead of asking what will they do,use examples of what has been done and their ideas of what happened and what would they do differently. I think i am not the only one who believes that waiting till nomination time will prove insufficient. The people need to know now what/who lies in store for possible candidates. For these individuals to lay back until nomination time is...under these conditions, regretable. Makes them seem shaky. Granted, such an early stab at announcing candidacy has never happened this early, but these are different times. Circumstances call for individuals to put themselves out there now. Give the voters a real good and extended view of who they are AND the principles they are committed to. For possible candidates to deny the rest of the voters the ability of seeing them, is really sad. They should be able to just "bust out!" and show they are ready to get it on. PLUS, it will send a message to the current administration that "the gig is up!" but in the end, it is a good thing that you are doing what you do. keep it up..

  2. while i do agree it is up to the people to determine who they want on the council, unfortunately that is the reason we are in the predicament we are in now. i am sure nobody anticipated the current state of affairs when the previous votes were cast. if these "people" you speak of wish to wait, perhaps they are not the leaders we need. if they show vacillation or indecisiveness now, who is to say they won't do the same when making decisions that affect the entire tribe?
