Oh, loathed tribal council. What will become of you?

Tribal council, you still have time to make amends to the Meskwaki people. A lot of people are hurting in case you haven't noticed. I must bring this to your attention because there has been talk of retribution. Payback, vengeance, justice... call it what you will. There are some tribal members who believe that you should be held accountable for the mistreatment of the Meskwakis. Although, most people just want to put all this unpleasantness behind the Tribe, and a few who are undecided. Who knows? The new tribal council may take matters into their own hands and come up with a suitable punishment. To give you an idea of this I have drawn up a chart.

  1. What really happened…back in 1988 Congress passed the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act that allowed Tribes to operate Class III gaming and the news of Minnesota Tribes generating huge profits became an obsession for Homer, and Keith. In 1991 was the year for Tribal Council Elections three promising candidates emerged and was asked to participate in a private meeting to discuss their intentions, and the hosts of the meeting were Homer, and Keith. At this meeting a strange question was asked, “once elected to tribal council would you help us change the tribal government to a traditional government.” The reply given was, “ it is up to all tribal members to decide and not by a few.” After this meeting Homer and Keith did not like what they heard and they setout to campaign against the three promising candidates, and in the fall the three candidates lost by narrow margins. Changing the tribes government was planned…. all was needed is the right players on the tribal council and an excuse. In 1992 the tribal council suspended the entire S&F Gaming Commission for failure to, “protect the tribes business”. Apparently 500 slot machines never made it to the Casino and the distributor went out of business.... and the same happened a second time another 400 slot machines never delivered…both incidents cost the Tribe money…you see 50% was paid prior to delivery on both orders. Mr. Olsen was to investigate, but nothing became of it. An Audit was discussed by the tribal council also present was Larry and Olsen. Shortly afterwards a petition to recall all council members started and here we are now…. broke…living on food stamps.

The take-over was planned from 1991. Was it for money? Was it the perfect crime?
If you believe in facts and the truth than don’t believe in a fairy tale take-over.

  2. My mistake the S&F Gaming Commission suspensions happened in 2002 and not 1992.

  3. Gosh, I was hoping people would see that I was clearly mocking the chief appointed tribal council 2003. The pg13 version. I didn't want to rehash the little old ladies being chained to the doors of the tribal center ala 2003 takeover. I'll edit
