Oh, just buck off already. Resign!

I can longer feign indifference for the way the tribal council is treating the Meskwaki people. I hope the mighty, mighty tribal council is having a jolly good time while us mere tribal members are left to wait out the months until the election rolls around. I'm sure the tribal council is drunk with power they have over the Tribe. They've almost succeeded in taking everything away. The staggering amount of money squadered by past and present tribal councils is cause for alarm. Take a look at the tribal council minutes. Money was thrown away as if it were a burden. Is a destitute tribe an ideal tribe? Stuff that really makes me dislike the tribal council(not as individuals but as a council) I don't like how they're not listening the people. They're developing codes to shut out the people and their rights are being violated. They lie and scheme with their lawyers. These individuals are not fit to be on the tribal council. They obviously have a hidden agenda. Is the tribal council so blind to see how their decisions are affecting the tribe or do they just not care?

  1. I hear that there are actually people who think things are all a-ok. Is that even possible? Most folks i talk to are not happy at all. How can such a divide happen? Can i get some help here? I wonder if there was a vote today..would a "new majority" be elected to replace the current council members who are termed out? any one got a beat on that? If not, then i would strongly suggest that the work begin to gain a strong consensus for a few candidates to come forward. Fall is just around the corner.

  2. The majority of the a-ok have a new house. While the rest of us struggle to keep a roof over our heads.

To all the Meskwaki who visit this blog, create an account and say something. Make it anonymous if your scared to reveal your name. The only thing that matters is that you say whats on your mind.

  3. In my opinion, you can put a revolving door on the tribal chambers all you want, but as long as Larry Lasley is in that office, things will never change, cuz he has too much power and that needs to end now! Its time to clean house at the tribal center starting with him and his sister laurie and all the plp at the clinic!!

  4. I agree that Larry has to go, but who on the current council opposes Larry and who supports him?

so tell us denise, if this is your opinion on the current administration, then why did you never use YOUR newsletter to make it known? you worked closely with these individuals while all of their shenanigans were taking place yet you said nothing. rather, you chose to incessantly remind the tribe of "the takeover" from a one sided, dissident, and dare i say, sheepish stance. it's unfortunate that only until you no longer have the means to inform the community thru the newsletter you decide to express yourself.

  6. I agree with dw641 I don't understand why you would post the "Takeover" years after the event. I believe you were cohearsed to do so only to keep the people in a certain "MINDSET" and being "NEGATIVE FEED". What you printed in your paper was totally Irrealavant and served no purpose to the community. When I seen that issue come out..I was so furstrated and wondered why you printed this event and for what purpose?!..I'm not angry at you Denise..I just don't understand..I would appreciate if you would shed some light on this for those of us that may want to know. Did Larry or someone you worked under direct you to print the actions that took place back in 2003?

  7. Myself, I don't think Denise had anything to do with the the long printed saga of the overthrow. I always thought (knew) it was larry's doing. I mean..'who's horn was being tooted?' While Denise was the manager of the paper, i suspect the editorial content had to be controlled by larry. I mean, think..Why would she write all that hullabaloo? THEN..LOOK at who's job got canned to "save money" Like a community newspaper is gonna break the bank. While all the high paid white folks make cash all day long..not to mention others. Noooo, i don't think denise had anything to do with all that story. but then again that's just me..in the end we can clear all this cross-blaming and set things right amongst ourselves. That would be positive steps if we are gonna be united to go after this thing. I suggest we watch and encourage the efforts denise's sisters' are doing with their petition. May get ignored..but hey..they are at least doing something..positive..

  8. makani you may be right Denise had nothing to do with what was printed but my question to Denise would be..Who directed you to print the takeover incident and who gave you the directive to print all the names and what they said while on the Walker Council? Were you asked to do this and to print what you thought would be "Good" for the community? with this information of who directed you..we can better understand how and who operated the Meskwaki News Letter. And yes what you girls and whomever may be involved in removing Larry petition..I stand behind you and your efforts 100%
